With much excitement we are pleased to announce that ExxonMobil through our Grassroot Soccer program has been shortlisted for the 2014 World Petroleum Council Excellence Awards (WPCEA). Over 100 nominated projects were reviewed by the independent judging panel and we are very thrilled to have made it to the final round.
Our ExxonMobil funded Grassroot Soccer SKILLZ: Malaria and HIV/AIDS Prevention Programs have yielded tremendous results in the various countries where we operate, especially Nigeria, Tunisia and Equitorial Guinea. Over 24,000 graduates in over 150 schools coached by over 250 trained peer educators in Nigeria, Grassroot Soccer have improved ability to reduce risks, handle peer pressure, and prevent HIV and malaria through increased education about health concerns in their communities.
The objective of the WPC Excellence Awards is to distinguish companies, institutions or any public or private organization engaged in the oil and gas industry for promoting or operating with high excellence standards.
The winners will be announced on Monday, June 16, 2014, the first day of the 21st World Petroleum Congress, during the WPC Excellence Awards Ceremony by Vladmir Evtushenkov, Chairman of the Russian National Committee of WPC and Chair of Sistema.
