World AIDS Day At Akwa-Ibom

YEDI in partnership with ACM and ECEWS participated in the states World's AIDS Day activities and also hosted a testing tournament themed- "Kick Against Malaria and HIV/AIDS Tournament". The commemoration of the World's AIDS Day was at Etim Ekpo while the football tournament was held at the Holy Child Primary School, Eket.

The Theme for the World's AIDS Day was "Getting To Zero" with the sub-theme in Akwa Ibom as "Take Charge, Go For HIV Test". This was carried out in the three Senatorial Zones of Ikot Ekpene, Uyo and Eket on the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th of December respectively.

At the end of the event, a total of 146 individuals(119 males and 27 females) were tested.

At the end of the day, a total of 46 people were diagnosed, tested, counselled and administered malaria drugs, 92 Insecticidal Treated Nets (ITN) were distributed and 87 people were tested for HIV.

The people of Akwa-Ibom showed love and support to the fight against Malaria and HIV/AIDS and we strongly belive that together we can fight the scourge of HIV/AIDS and malaria in Nigeria and Africa at large....
